Seriously Who Cares? | My Restaurant Ordeal…

Black woman

That is a question with multiple answers dependent on the mood and or situation. Considering the situation I find myself in now .I can answer… “Nobody cares.”

Here I am, waiting on an order I have placed, which I am beginning to regret. This is a nice restaurant, and so I decided to go in, check it out and buy myself a drink only. Halfway through my drink, I’m attacked with a food menu by a waiter.

I could have simply refused politely, finish my drink and just leave, but I had thoughts of not giving the waiters the impression that I could not afford the food. And also feeling a bit uncomfortable other customers may have noticed the 30 minutes I had already spent sipping on my drink like an invalid, I took the challenge and ordered.

Whiles waiting, I noticed a young man with a lady whose dress size was two sizes less her actual size. She was shifting eyes as if she was being marked and was struggling so hard to balance her knife, which was obviously in the wrong hand.

I asked myself who at all this woman was trying to impress, because even her companion had his chicken hand held and he was enjoying it; in my quest to laugh I realized the joke is on me too.

Here I am busily acting out of character in order to fit in and impress total strangers, who possibly are oblivious of my presence and could certainly care less about me. I again questioned myself why we are so concerned about what others or even total strangers think of us.

Well; this caused me to buy this pizza that will cost me two days of trekking, coupled with a mono meal of gari and shito.

Of course!, I’ m starving but just leaving this fancy restaurant and enduring a minute or so of self-assumed embarrassment would have been worth the big bowl of Amalia’s waakye which always satisfied me and costs less than half the price of this decorated sliced bread.

Before anything… a selfie of this once in a moment opportunity was ideal, so I did myself the honour. Too bad GhanaCelebrities.Com’s readers cannot join me in here, but  ponder on it too so I don’t feel like the only crazy person, is impressing other people who hold no place in our lives even worth it?.

More often than not, We are caught up in acquiring or doing things we need not do, just to impress or gain the approval of society. As human as we are, we cannot rely on impressions of others to live our lives, we must be able to make firm decisions and stand by it, by so doing we develop a winning attitude through sound decision making and judgments.

  2. The last paragrapgh says it all. And just a little contribution, Most people copy blindy just to impress others. Number one key to happiness, is make yourself happy becoause no one will do that for you. Try not to impress others when you know that wont accomplish any thing. That is a nice piece
