List Of World’s Best Selling Books: The Bible, The Quran, And Some Of The Greatest Literature Ever Written

image

There are few skills more valuable to the human animal than the ability to read. It sharpens our basic critical faculties, enabling us to make the advancements we have made.

Yet, it is still one of the skills people loath to develop these days. In Ghana for instance, I did literature in senior high and journalism for my degree, yet majority of colleagues in either class barely found the time to pick a book to read- even though one can reasonably assume both class should contain those who actually like reading; at least that must be one of the reasons for them to be taking those courses.

Over the centuries, only few books have attained the cult status needed to be declared true classics. A survey has been done to try and determine the highest selling books of all time. The top two are both Holy Books, which I think is because people know they have to read those- to be considered a good Muslim or Christian.

The rest are a delightful mix of fiction and non-fiction, including the Harry Potter series, Don Quixote, and the delightful quotes of Chairman Mao.

The biggest surprise is that the book you think would be number one is actually not. But that might be because the calculations considered just one version of it, or so some people say.

Either way, when your religion is 2,000 years old, there is bound to be a ton of your holy books sold.

Quick question; do you classify the Bible and Quran as fiction or non-fiction?
