The system is in virtual breakdown but doctors are not ready to back down an inch, after voting to extend their strike for two more weeks.

The doctors held an extraordinary general assembly meeting Friday, to deliberate on the state of negotiations so far an whether that merits calling off the strike, granting an extension, or carrying out their threat to resign en masse.

Apparently, government has made some overtures but not enough, so they voted for a two week extension to the strike. 213 voted to continue the strike, whilst 148 voted to call it off.

The doctors would review the decision after two weeks, to see what the best next course of action should be.

Doctors have been on strike for the past two weeks, fighting for improved conditions of service.
