Actor Kyle Jean-Baptiste Dies At Age 21 After A Tragic Accident

Kyle Jean-Baptiste, the first black actor to play the leading role in “Les Miserables” on Broadway has died.

According to Gossip Cop, the 21-year-old actor died on Friday after falling from a fire escape outside his mom’s apartment.

“The entire Les Miserables family is shocked and devastated by the sudden and tragic loss of Kyle, a remarkable young talent and tremendous person who made magic — and history — in his Broadway debut. We send our deepest condolences to his family and ask that you respect their privacy in this unimaginably difficult time,” the Les Miserables company said in a statement.

Jean-Baptiste who is from Brooklyn made his historic debut as Jean Valjean on July 23 as an understudy. He usually played Constable and Courfeyrac.

Stars Josh Groban, Kristin Chenoweth and Debra Messing took to Twitter to share their condolences;

“He was just getting started. So sad. My condolences as well to family and cast,” Groban tweeted.

Chenoweth called his passing a “heartbreaker.”

“This is so unspeakably tragic. Thinking of his family and all who loved him,” Messing tweeted.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson also posted on Twitter, “R.I.P. Kyle Jean-Baptiste. Gone way too soon. All my thoughts & prayers are with his family & the cast of @LesMizBway.”
