King George Abanga, a journalist who works with Success Fm and also a correspondent for Accra based Peace Fm from the Asunafo North Municipal in the Brong Ahafo has been killed from gun shoot wounds.

We’ve gathered that he was shot by suspected arm robbers who mistook him for a cocoa purchaser who they’ve been chasing to rob of his money that he withdrew from a bank in Sankore.

Reports available to GhanaCelebrities.Com indicate that the incident occurred when the journalist was enroute from Sankore to Goaso where he works; after following up a story which is in connection with an alleged cocoa fertilizers theft being reported by some cocoa farmers in the area.

The shooting reportedly took place around 3:00pm on Thursday, September 10.

Accounts Of Success Fm’s General Manager

The General Manager of Success Fm, Mr. Asafo Adjei Davidson told GhanaCelebrities.Com’s reporter, Kofi Oppong Kyekyeku on Friday morning that King George was pronounced dead upon reaching the Goaso Government Hospital.

He narrated that; “I received a distress phone call around 6pm yesterday from an unknown person who was using the phone set of King George that, he has been involved in an accident, I saw him lying lifeless when I reached the hospital.”

Mr. Asafo Adjei said they are waiting for final medical reports from the hospital before they convey the untimely death of the deceased to his family.

Public Relations Officer of the Brong Ahafo Regional Police Command, ASP Christopher Tawiah said; it is too early to come out with vivid information as at the time of filling this report around 8:05am on Friday.

He reiterated that the death of King George Abanga is coincidental and investigations are underway to ascertain what really triggered the shooting incident.
