Police Begin Investigations Into Judicial Scandal

Ghana-Police-Service-Emblem

The Anas scandal, as we’ve liberally decided to christen his latest expose, continues to sprout new developments day after day. For most Ghanaians though, all they’re waiting for is the jail part.

And that might have just moved a step closer, or further; you never know with Ghana Police. According to the director of CID, they have began criminal investigations into the matter, following receipt of a list of the implicated judges and their details from the Judicial Council.

Prosper Agblor told the Daily Graphic that they have written to the judges to appear before them, with two set to make their appearances this week. The investigation would involve all 34 judges implicated in the scandal.

The Judicial council had been handling the scandal since it broke, with a committee established that investigated the circumstances of the case. Seven of the high court judges were suspended by the President after the committee established a prima facie case against them.

The police would also investigate the other judicial officers such as clerks that were also caught up in the scandal. The question now is how good of a job would these guys do?
