Really, suing a 12 year old. People are really willing to stoop that low?

And the boy’s crime, he jumped up in joy into his aunt’s arms to welcome her to his birthday party, back in 2011. He was eight then, and court documents submitted by the aunt herself says he was screaming ‘Aunt Jen, I love you’ all the time.

Jennifer Connell, a human resource manager from Manhattan, is suing her 12 year old nephew for $127,000. She claims she fell and broke her wrist after he jumped to hug her in his exuberance, The Guardian reports.

She said life has been difficult since the incident, and that after not complaining for a long time she feels she is owed something now.

“I was at a party recently, and it was difficult to hold my hors d’oeuvre plate,” she reportedly said.

The boy was in court with his father, and is reported as looking confused. He lost his mother last year.

The aunt, who has no children of her own, testified she loves her nephew, whom she described as always being “very loving, sensitive” toward her.

That runs contrary to what her suit shows though.

“The injuries, losses and harms to the plaintiff were caused by the negligence and carelessness of the minor defendant in that a reasonable eight year old under those circumstances would know or should have known that a forceful greeting such as the one delivered by the defendant to the plaintiff could cause the harms and losses suffered by the plaintiff,” the lawsuit claims, per the New York Daily News.

I’m left wishing this is just satire.
