The President and his Power Ministry cronies are trying a merry go round with Ghanaians were they’re trying to get out of the promise to end dumsor by the end of this year.

The President, speaking in Kumasi, floated the idea that if Ghanaians really want dumsor to end, we would have to pay more for electricity.

“If we do not want dumsor and we genuinely want reliable sustainable power, then we should be ready to pay more and that is the reality,” The President said on Kumasi’s Garden City Radio.

When reliable power supply is a mirage, we have a leader telling us we have to pay more for what is basically an utopian dream we never saw. Maybe if we enjoyed that for a month we could all agree to pay more.

Besides, government itself is crippling agencies like the ECG, with debt levels that certainly puts a big dent in their operations. If ECG has a fraction of the money government owes them they could actually do the job they’re supposed to be doing.

The President also spoke on the Akosombo Dam, whose water levels continue to drop.

“We might have to shut down four units and rely on only two because of the water level at Akosombo”he said.

“Normally by this time this year the water level at Akosombo Dam should be between 155-160ft but it could not get to that level because of lack of rains this year”, he explained.

So which is it, is dumsor ending or not?
