The Electoral Commission is holding a public forum to gather views on the voter’s register from all the political parties and other relevant stakeholders.

Taking to the podium earlier today, the ever popular Akua Donkor, founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), gave her party’s position on the issue. According to her, there is no need for a new register, and she had some rather interesting justifications for her position.

Those in the room, including the EC chairperson Charlotte Osei herself; could barely control their laughter during her presentation. It got worse when she suggested underage voting occurs because children want to get ID cards to be able to retrieve mobile money deposits.
