NPP Supporter Stabbed To Death In Kumasi

Whilst they continue to trumpet that they are the best alternative to the current government( the more likely explanation is that they are the only alternative), the NPP shows little signs of presenting themselves as such to Ghanaians.

The one party that has always maintained that the NDC is the truly violent one in the nation have acquired a monopoly over political violence in the past few months.

The party’s Upper East Regional Chairman was bathed in acid a few months ago, which led to his death. And now, another fatality has been recorded.

An NPP member in Asawase in the Ashanti Regional capital, identified as one Abubakar Saddiq, has been stabbed to death at the party’s secretariat in the constituency.

Saddiq was part of supposed Nana Akuffo Addo loyalists, who got into a confrontation with a faction of Paul Afoko supporters. The former took over the constituency office, and attempted to stop the latter from re-entering the office after they had returned from Accra, where they had demonstrated for the reinstatement of the suspended party chairman.

In the fracas, the 37 year old Saddiq, a known spare parts dealer, was stabbed to death.

The party has condemned the violence, with communications director Nana Akomea telling myjoyonline that whilst the death was unfortunate, they were yet to confirm if it had to do with the internal wrangling within the party.

The body has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue pending an autopsy.
