Popular Ghanaian comedian, Nkomode known in private life as Yaw Donkor is currently fighting for his life—after he was diagnosed with kidney, liver and bladder problems some months ago.

The Key Soap Concert Party Star, who nearly died as a result of this, said he was happy to note that a dissimilar scan later proved that his kidney was not yet infected.

“I fell sick in April. After I went to a hospital in Accra for about seven months, I nearly died so they transferred me to Tema General Hospital. I had a scan and they told me there is a problem in my kidney, liver and bladder. When I got to Tema, I took another scan and they told me that my kidney is now safe,” he told Accra-based Hitz FM.

The veteran comedian showered praises on Ghanaian local actor Akrobeto, who has been very supportive since the beginning of his predicament.

According to him, he is yet to hear from any of his colleagues with the exception of Akrobeto.

“For these seven months that I have been sick, there is no actor who has come to visit me. The only person who takes care of me is Akrobeto. I can always boast of Akrobeto for what he has been doing for me. He has been taking care of me every day. Tema doctors asked me to use pampers after injection because I was going to urinate a lot after every injection. I can urinate about 15 times a day. When I called Akrobeto, he bought all the pampers for me.”

It was a delight to watch Nkomode on Ghana Television in the 90’s.

He was crowned the champion of comedy in 1996; 1997 and 1998 for the third time—stealing the bragging rights from Bob Okala, Original 32 and Agya Koo, respectively.

  1. If I wish him speedy recovery or pray for him, it is not going to change his condition. I wish there was a gofundme page in his name for some of us to donate money to help take care of his treatment.
