NATO has called for an emergency meeting after Russian Su-24 jet was shot by Turkey at the Turkish-Syrian border.

NATO ambassadors will meet today in Brussels at 5 pm (4 pm GMT).

A NATO’s representative has said; “The meeting of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization will be held at 5 pm (4 pm GMT) at Turkey’s request.”

The situation is closely being monitored by NATO.

As we reported earlier today, the lack of proper coordination on the fight against ISIS seems to be leading to a new set of international problems—now that Turkish military has shot down a Russian war plane near its border to Syria.

Both Ankara and Moscow have confirmed the incident.

Turkey’s military officials have said “the Russian Sukhoi Su-24 jet was shot down by Turkish F-16 fighter planes on Tuesday morning after violating the country’s air space and ignoring nearly a dozen warnings,” reports UK’s MailOnline.

But Russia is disputing this, with Russia’s Ministry of Defence claiming the jet was in Syrian airspace, and was shot down from the ground.
