STATEMENT: Power Crisis To Worsen

Power Minister- Kwabena Donkor
Power Minister- Kwabena Donkor

As we get ever closer to that December 31 deadline for the end of dumsor, the situation seems to be worsening- not getting better.

Of course, as the Power Minister said, he promised to end load shedding and not dumsor– so you can’t expect him to resign when he has solved the load shedding but dumsor still persists.

Anyway, a statement from the Ministry headed by Kwabena Donkor says the worsening of the power situation is due to Ghana Gas being shut down for some work to be done.

They therefore ask Ghanaians to bear with them, but the situation would end ‘soon’.

Read the statement below…

The current increase in the quantum of load shedding in the country has come about as a result of the shutdown of Ghana National Gas Company Ltd, (Ghana Gas) at Atuabo to enable the African Middle East Investment Power Plant (AMERI) to be connected into the gas supply system of Ghana Gas.

The AMERI plant at Aboadzie currently being installed, is expected to generate additional 250 MW into the National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS) when fully commissioned.

Engineers of both the Ghana National Gas Company Ltd (Ghana Gas) and AMERI are working round the clock to complete the connection of the gas line and to ameliorate the recent further decline on power supply in the country.

The public is kindly requested to bear with situation as the gas line connection is expected to be completed soon.
