American actor Robert Loggia has died at the age of 85.

Reports indicate that the Oscar-nominated actor “passed away peacefully at his home on Friday.”

He is survived by his wife, Audrey, his children, Tracy, John and Kristina, and a stepchild, Cynthia.

His wife, Audrey O’Brien, told TMZ that Robert Loggia struggled with Alzheimer’s for the last 5 years.

She said “things took a drastic turn for the worse Wednesday, he seemed to rebound and then died suddenly and peacefully at home.”

Audrey disclosed that she and their daughter Cynthia were at Robert’s bedside when he passed.

Robert and Audrey have been together for 33 years, and brought forth 4 kids—before his demise.

Audrey revealed that “He was an awesome husband and an awesome father.”

Loggia starred in movies such as Big, Independence Day and An Officer and a Gentleman, but was perhaps best known for his role as Miami drug lord Frank Lopez in Brian De Palma’s 1983 gangster classic, Scarface. His supporting role in 1985’s Jagged Edge earned him an Academy Award nomination.

He enjoyed success in television as well, earning Emmy nominations for his lead role in Mancuso, FBI in 1990 and for a guest appearance on Malcolm in the Middle in 2001.
