The messy and convoluted case involving Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan and Sarah Kwabla, seems destined for the bin of history- after all charges against the footballer were dropped by state prosecutors.

Sarah Kwabla accused the 30 year old of raping and sodomising her during a relationship they had, even claiming initially that she got pregnant due to their amorous encounters.

The case has since seen several twists and turns, including a case of extortion and a marijuana possession case, but the substantive case had been running quietly under.

However, latest information indicates the Attorney General’s Department has decided to close the case, exonerating the Shanghai SIPG forward of all charges. His lawyer, Kissi Agyabeng, made the disclosure at a press conference held on Tuesday.

“Gyan cooperated with the Police throughout their investigation and their investigation has come to an end.” he said.

“We were called to the headquarters of the CID and informed that after a careful study of the docket, the Attorney General has concluded the rape and unnatural canal knowledge made by Sarah Kwablah against Asamoah Gyan are totally baseless.

“The docket must be closed, in plain language Asamoah Gyan has been cleared of all allegations by Kwablah”

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, who represents Sarah Kwabla, recently claimed that he had incontrovertible proof that Gyan raped his client. This doesn’t seem like what he had in mind.

Unless something else was going on that influenced this decision…?
