Ghanaian singer and songwriter Rocky Dawuni, has charged Ghanaian musicians to exercise patience when releasing songs.

Rocky Dawuni in a recent interview asserted that it’s wrong for a musician to rush in releasing hit songs. According to him, those songs last for just the moment, but are incapable of becoming timeless classics.

He advised Ghanaian musicians to craft something that will have a positive impact on the society.

“First of all, I would say they are doing well but I think it is better for an artiste to take his time when it comes to songs. Sometime we are in a rush to release hit songs and those songs last just for the moment.

“Most of them are quick to jump on rhythms but for me I think it is better to exercise patience and deliver classic songs,” he said.

Rocky also revealed that someone helped him to do the right thing when he began his musical career.

“At a point in my career, I had a lot of people who wanted to take me on but in the end one of them came to me and advised me to take my time, study the arts of writing and today I am here, I went back to the drawing board and started doing my homework.”

Rocky Dawuni holds the accolade as the only Ghanaian musician nominated for the prestigious Grammy Awards. His sixth studio album titled Branches of The Same Tree released on 31 March 2015 was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in December 2015 for the 58th Annual Grammy Awards.
