Company Which Branded Metro Mass Buses Claims They Charged Ghc 100 Per Bus

This cost 310m old cedis to brand?

Recently we all (presumably) wet our pants when we discovered that our beloved government had spent Ghc 3.6m to rebrand some newly acquired Metro Mass Transit buses.

The cost to the state, apparently, was Ghc 31,000 per bus- an amount the average Ghanaian worker on Ghc 500 a month would not earn for over five years.

Yet government is somehow telling us it was justified in spending that kind of money.

However, the company which branded the buses now claim that the prices for the deal have been HUGELY over inflated.

Kweku Mensah Abeiku, CEO of Crystal concept, told Adom FM that they carried out the rebranding, and that they charged nowhere near that much for the job. An alarmed Abeiku said they charged Ghc 100 for working on each bus, which in the end come up to Ghc 1160. So the Ghc 3.6m figure being bandied about is news to him.

He claimed to have the invoice resulting from the deal, which would show him to be right. In a more comical vein, he added that family members are calling him trying to find out why he has made all that money and is keeping it under wraps.
