The Power Minister, Dr Kwabena Donkor, has resigned over the dumsor dumsor, as per his promise earlier this year.

Donkor made the promise in February, and whilst the ministry announced on Wednesday that the load shedding was over, that got contradicted by GRIDCo real quick, leading to the Minister being handed an ultimatum to resign or be fired.

As the year draws to a close, Donkor has decided to resign his post. Rather than being any reassuring balm ahead of the new year, it just tells us that we would enter the final year of President Mahama’s first term still sleeping in darkness. Out of all of this government’s failures, this stands out the most- and I really hope we have learned some lessons on the kind of leaders to choose moving forward.
