BNI Presents Proposal To Government Demanding Improved Service Conditions

bni
The problems overrunning the nation are coming from all angles; to the extent operatives of national security are agitating for increased conditions of service.
The new proposal was contained in a document presented to Parliament by the Bureau of National Investigations, calling for codified conditions of service.
This was the same issue that led to the strike last year by the Ghana Medical Association, which went on for weeks and led to needless deaths. It’s astonishing that it would be affecting a branch of National Security.
Minority leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu acknowledged Parliament’s receipt of the document, and also that the service are asking for theirs to be codified because other security agencies already have theirs.
“The Police Service has a regulation, the Prisons Service are preparing theirs and have reached advanced stage and the BNI thinks they have to bring theirs.” The Suame MP told Joy Fm in Accra.
“It’s about their welfare, their conditions of service, discipline in the institution and their code of conduct and how they go on retirement… I think it is in order.”
“They have also spelt out the grounds for recruitment and dismissal and terms of conditions of service. It is good for the country and the service…,”
How come after so long, 58 years as an independent country, so many professions lack codified conditions of service?
