A Cameroonian foreign student at a Danish University has seen his studies brought to an abrupt end, after he was deported for working too many hours part-time.
According to the Guardian, the Danish agency for recruitment and integration found he exceeded the limit, and thus ordered him to leave the country. Youbi, a 30 year old Cameroonian studying electrical engineering at Aarhus University- had argued that over the year his hours added up to under the given limit.
The University had tried to stop his order, as he was yet to complete his studies. He was described as one of the best students at the University, and a petition to halt his deportation garnered over 18,000 signatures- but it still did not work.
“I am sorry and disappointed,” Youbi told public broadcaster DR. “All this work has gone to waste. Four-and-a-half years have gone up in smoke.”
Per Lysgaard, an associate professor at the university, also added that: “Both I and the university think this is a totally unfair, harsh punishment for working too much. He has paid for his study, so he should be allowed to take his exams. He’s the best student we have right now.”
Amazing, somebody being punished so severely just for ‘over-working’.

  1. Is not been overworking
    Just follow the rules .
I’m a student here in Saskatoon Canada and your allow to work 20 hours a week when school is in section .
And work 40 hours when you’re on vacation and summer break .
You not suppose to exceed your hours because the Citizen and Immigration will know if you file for your tax returns ,and when you exceeds the hours ,you will you will be deported. You came there to study not to work .Thats unfortunate he should go back home and apply again to the school after a year .African don’t follow instructions the embassy is always in contact with the school if your still schooling .
