Famed rock star David Bowie, who passed away over the weekend after battling cancer over a year and a half, continues to cast his long, influential shadow on the world.
A tribute concert to be held in his honour at the famed Carnegie Hall in New York, proved to be the hottest selling tickets in showbiz for a while, selling out within an hour of being announced.
Carnegie Hall box office announced that the tickets for ‘The Music of David Bowie’, which were released on Monday- were sold out within sixty minutes, a record for the hall.
The last time a show was this hot was the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight- although that was on another level, selling out within minutes.
According to Carnegie Hall box office, previous concerts for the Rolling Stones and Prince have sold out quick, but usually within months, not minutes.
The concert, which was planned before the singer’s death, takes place on March 31; and would feature acts such The Roots, Cyndi Lauper, Jakob Dylan and others.
