With the recent furore over Oscar nominees, the choice of a white man to play Michael Jackson might not be the smartest; but then nobody ever knew exactly what Michael Jackson ever wanted to do with his body.
A new comedy special, ‘Elizabeth, Michael and Marlon, which is still under development, would feature Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando, driving from New York to California in the aftermath of the September 11 2001 terrorist attacks when all air travel out of New York was banned.
It is supposed to be based on a real road trip that occurred, based on a Vanity Fair article from 2009; although most people have said the road trip never occurred and the movie would be largely fictional.
Others casted include Stockard Channing to play Taylor and Brian Cox to play Brando. The special is being developed for Sky Arts, and according to Fiennes, would be “a fun, lighthearted, tongue-in-cheek road trip of what celebrity of that kind is like. But also it’s rather beautiful and poignant about their relationships.”
The half hour comedy would be written by Neil Forsyth. Fiennes has earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of William Shakespeare in ‘Shakespeare In Love’, for which he was nominated for a BAFTA award. He also portrayed Monsignor Timothy Howard in the Season Two of American Horror Story.
