In what must have been a bizarre chain of events, an NDC MP’s son is being held for shooting the eye of an NPP Women’s Organiser in the Brong Ahafo region.
Nana Kwame, reportedly the son of Tain MP Gyan Tutu Agyemang, was with his father’s gun when he accidentally shot Eric Obour, who is the son of the Women’s Organiser of the NPP in the constituency.
The unfortunate incident occurred last weekend, Daily Guide reports. Kwame is said to have come into possession of a gun his father kept to warn away intruders every night before sleeping.
“Nana Kwame, 27, without his father’s knowledge, reportedly took the gun, mistakenly pressed the trigger and shot one eye of Eric Obour.” The paper writes.
“DAILY GUIDE source said Eric was relaxing in the company of other friends near the MP’s house when the bullets ripped through the gate of the building to hit Eric’s eye. He was quickly rushed to the Badu Health Centre for treatment.
“Though Nana Kwame was arrested and detained at the Wenchi Police Station overnight, he was released the following day.
“When the paper tried to check from the Wenchi Municipal Commander, DSP Derrick Baa, he confirmed the incident and said Kwame had been charged for negligently causing harm and processed for court.”
