CHRIS-VINCENT Slams Jay Foley And Lexis Bill For Mocking Abraham Attah’s Oscar Speech: ‘Where Has The Fake Accents Of These Local Champions Ever Taken Them?’

Young Abraham Attah has been globe-trotting the past few weeks, notching up awards and running in top circles; but it seems for some that is not enough.
Attah presented an award during Sunday night’s Academy Awards in Los Angeles, and had some words to say on the night.
Purportedly perceived as having jumbled some words, Live Fm’s Jay Foley, Joy Fm’s Lexis Bill and MzGee reportedly criticised Attah’s performance on the grandest stage of them all.
In a sharply worded rebuttal to their utterances, GhanaCelebrities.Com editor Chris-Vincent Agyapong Febiri has laid into these three for their uniquely Ghanaian ‘pull him down’ antics.
The notably hard hitting Agyapong did not mince much words in laying waste to the three, who decided to ignore all the good the young Attah has achieved to concentrate of some perceived mistakes.
He wrote on Facebook:
“I am told Jay Foley of LIVE FM, Lexis Bill of JOY FM and some other human being called MzGee ridiculed young Ghanaian-Hollywood actor-Abraham Attah’s Oscar’s speech because he fumbled and somewhat got his words and sentences wrong.
These people who have not lived more than a year out of Ghana sit on radio with their FAKE accents and have the audacity to laugh at a 15 year old; once a street vendor who today mingles with some of the biggest international stars of our time.
Apart from seeing Leo, Stallone and others on TV; where would any of these people reasonably ever see them?
Where has the fake accents of these local champions ever taken them?
Beyond Accra where lack of interesting competition makes them feel they are on top, what has been their achievements?
Ironically, Jay Foley went to just BET last year as a ‘lame’ third world reporter and returned to Ghana as a god, proud of this insignificant accomplishment.
Yet he reportedly ridiculed a 15 year old who has been to places that his generation to come may only dream of.
And Lexis Bill, really? You actually did that?
A single movie opportunity and Abraham Attah has won almost every big award he was nominated for—his first Oscar appearance and he was made to present an award at the biggest award show in the world.
Out of his first Oscar appearance, he made a deal with TOMS on the basis that he would wear their shoes for Academy Awards and they will provide 10,000 pair of shoes for needy children in Ghana.
In just a year, the boy has been mentioned by every reputable media outlet out there—from BBC to CNN, via MailOnline and the others.
And you people mock him for some sentence displacement?
Lexis Bill, it was only this year that you had the opportunity to visit London—Abraham has visited every city that matters.
You went to take a look at the BBC building while you were in London and it was a big deal for you and the various Ghanaian media houses who published photos. Abraham does not go to look at buildings, he is chased for interviews—and he is recognised for his superior talent.
‘Jada Smith Pinkett did not even receive an Oscar invitation’ but Abraham did..
Earlier today, GhanaCelebrities.Com reported on actress-Yvonne Okoro confessing on instagram that, Abraham Attah is living her dreams and that of all her colleagues. They’ve all been wishing for this their entire career and the boy from no where, with little education and absolutely no background in movies just got it—and you people cut him down?
I will be going to the biggest film festival in the world, the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France in a few weeks and guess what, I will proudly be talking to everyone who bothers to make a conversation with me about Abraham Attah. Because, they would have heard of him, seen him and admired his brilliance—from the biggest Film Critics in the world to the Film-makers, Stars and Enthusiasts.
You people, who knows you beyond your frequencies that do not even reach Togo?
Charley; let me leave it! What a bunch of losers…
Off to watch Marco Polo!”

  1. So these grown up men are mocking a 15 year old child? What have they achieved in their lives? At age 15 what were they doing with their lives? Even at their age today, they are just faking accents on some local radio stations yet they laugh at the young man who has been to the Oscars.

  5. I’m seriously surprised they did that to a 15 year old. They should rather be congratulating the guy. I’m even short of words. This is rather appalling. They should be ashamed of themselves.

  7. Arrrrrrrrh…… Some Ghanaian’s we have living in Ghana. Indeed, as we all know that in life, its not about our aptitude, but rather our attitude is what determines our altitude; these locally manufactured radio presenters should change their attitudes in order to get to this exemplary peak of this young guy (Atta Abraham). If this boy was to be their nephew, would they have passed such ridiculous and shameful comments? Am really disappointed in these ‘DISAPPOINTMENT GUYS’ (Jay Foley and co.)

  8. seriously.. why should anyone even make a big deal out of Abraham’s sentence. the kid was a street vendor.. had no or less education and for him to even stand in front of the world and deliver such a confident speech, first time i saw the movie i was very impressed because of the stories i heard about the boy.. Abraham withing a year is bigger than the three of them combined in a 100 years. those three can never get to Abraham’s. about 99% of Ghanaians are happy for Abraham so just the three of you hating on the 15 year old Hollywood star will not stop him from getting to higher heights.

  9. Very nice article Chris…… He is a Ghanaian and not a British, so if he is not good with the English language, what’s wrong with that? Some of these guys are bunch of jokers.

  10. Shame on all those people, after all isn’t English just a language? Can
any of them speak Swedish or Hindi or all the other languages in the
world? They are not even smart to think logically. Jealousy,
jealousy…..shame, shame, shame and shame. They can never in their life
time attained the heights to which this intelligent and brilliant young
man has done even at their so call level of education not to mention if
they were to be in the circumstances this young man found his self in.
After all what is English a language? Slavery mentality….break out of
your slavery. May God have mercy on you. I have been listening to FM radio since Radio Eye 1st broadcast and never heard of those names mentioned …..which radio station do they work at. Fools at work………….

  12. The thought of this still makes me go so mad!!!! Those guys are idiots, wet blanket and excuse me, stupid fools as well. How can u criticize such a young boy who has achieved a feat of this nature precisely from a third world country like Ghana. Such a significant achievement of a lifetime coming from a young boy. He needs all the encouragement and the support to reach even higher heights.!!!!! I sincerely hope that he’s given the opportunity to even stay in the US and further develop his skill and talent. May God bless u

  13. The boy was not employed to act an American movie. He acted an African movie. So why will you expect him to speak English with a British or American accent? I always maintain my Ghanaian accent everywhere I go. Ghanaians need a sense of identity. American-English is a derivation of British English which was modified to show a distinct American identity. In the same way, speaking English with a Ghanaian accent shows who you are and what you stand for. Kofi Annan and many other Ghanaians retain that linguistic characteristic that makes them Ghanaian. So why will Lexis Bill be so proud of his fake American accent?

  14. Anyway, to be fair to Lexis Bill and Jay Foley, they are both building careers as critics. There are professional critics in every country. A man like Simon Cowell is a professional critic. If these two radio professionals want to position themselves as such, there is nothing wrong with it. BUT they must learn the art of criticizing. Maybe the speech could have been better. Maybe the boy could have presented himself better. But I think that obligation does not go to the 15 year old boy. It should have been discharged by his managers and his talent executives. So a more professional critique should have come from these media personalities. We await their correction.
