President John Dramani Maham is set to be awarded an honorary degree by the University of Aberdeen Friday, during the third day of a planned state visit to Scotland.
The Scottish University would bestow upon the Ghanaian leader a Doctor of Law (LLD) (Honoris Causa), during a ceremony to be held on the University’s campuses.
The President has been on a roll concerning honorary honours in recent times. Most recently, the Ilorin University in Nigeria conferred on him a similar Honorary Doctor of Law (LLD).
President Mahama, during his visit to Scotland, would meet the Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, address Parliament, and also meet with the Ghanaian community in the country. He is accompanied on the trip by the First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama, Foreign Minister Hanna Tetteh, Minister for Communications Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and the Education Minister, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman.
Former President Rawlings’ father, if you’ll recall, hails from Scotland, and he was the first ever Ghanaian leader to visit the United Kingdom member-nation.
