Fortune Magazine has come out with their annual list of the world’s greatest leaders, and it includes some of the most recognisable names worldwide.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos tops the list, followed by German chancellor Angela Merkel and famed Myanmar leader Ang San Suu Kyi.
According to Fortune, the selectee had to be someone leading an effort to improve people’s lives, and inspiring others to do the same. And they aren’t looking at short term efforts, but lasting ones.

As always, we cast a wide net, seeking outstanding leaders in all sectors of society around the world. It isn’t enough to be accomplished, brilliant, or admirable. We recognize those who are inspiring others to act, to follow them on a worthy quest, and who have shown staying power. No mere flashes in the pan…

Bright Simons, 34, is head of the mPedigree network, which works to expose counterfeit drugs on sale to Africans. The Goldkey software created by mPedigree can help a customer authenticate a drug purchase by simply sending a text message.
Other names on the list include the Pope, John Legend, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, US Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Gingsburg and comedian/social commentator John Oliver.
