Black Stars coach Avram Grant’s love affair with the Ghanaian media doesn’t look like ending anytime soon, as the Israeli continues to remain lukewarm towards the all important job he holds.
The GFA has announced that the coach has apologised for comments he had been deemed disrespectful to Ghanaians.
Speaking after his side’s 3-1 win over Mozambique last week, Grant said that Ghanaians like focusing on bullsh*t rather than important issues.
This led the FA summoning him to explain himself for the comments he made. He therefore issued this apology through the GFA Communication division.
“First, I withdraw this word. Just the thing I will like to say is I love Ghana and I respect Ghanaians and I care about the Ghanaian team.” He told the FA.
“What I wanted to say is we need everybody not to focus on the unnecessary thing[s], only to focus about the most important thing that our leaders that can make the change can focus on the important things that can take us forward and not about negative things,”
Grant has come under intense scrutiny since taking the job, especially due to the time he spends outside the country. That seems to have boiled over after the Mambas game when he told the assembled press: “An African team can achieve this target but it is a process, if you follow the process you do what is necessary to do and if this nation will concentrate on football not the bullsh*t, yes just the football because there is a lot of passion and enjoy working with people. We need to concentrate on the steps to reach higher and higher level”
Grant continues to seem detached from what his bosses at the FA wants. It’s telling that he didn’t give the apology directly, but through a statement to the FA’s own communications team.
