Thirteen Pakistani Nationals In Ghana Arrested On Suspicion Of Being ‘Terrorists’

Seriously, we do not want to turn into a country of Donald Trump’s.
A group of young people in Assin Fosu in the Central Region on Thursday, accosted thirteen Pakistani nationals who were in the locality and handed them over to police in the town.
The thirteen were picked up on suspicion of being ‘terrorists’, whilst travelling from Assin Nyankomase to Assin Fosu.
The Ghana Immigration Service, who have them in custody, has allayed fears that the thirteen are in any shape or form related to any terror activities. The Public Relations Officer of the Service in the Central Region told Starr News they are missionaries spreading the news of Islam.
“The information we have is that, they are missionaries from Pakistan preaching the gospel to the Muslim community but we are monitoring them. They are missionaries, nothing more nothing less. There is no cause for alarm,” Raymond Bahe said.
Recent incidents of terror in neighbouring countries lead to a heightened terror alert, and it is good to be vigilant in these days of radical jihadism. But we have to steer clear of the trap of treating people like crap just because they are different. I’m struggling to see the probable cause these ‘youth’ saw before they decided to pick up these thirteen people. Especially when you consider how mob actions often turn ugly in this country.
Vigilance is encouraged, but we do not want to cross-over into rank paranoia and xenophobia.
