Pope Skinny says Ghanaian artists are hypocrites who complain about the VGMA awards scheme only when they fail to win, but generally have nothing to say when they win.
Pope Skinny was speaking in the wake of controversies arising out of the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, and the angst of some artists for failing to pick up awards they felt they deserved.
In a post on Facebook, the rapper called on artists to shun the hypocrisy.
He wrote in all caps for some reason.
“YOU SEE HOW FAKE GHANA MUSICIANS ARE? WHEN THEY ARE NOMINATED FOR VGMAs THEY DNT COMPLAIN OOO. BUT WHEN THE AWARDS DOESNT GO IN THEIR FAVOUR THEN THEY COME COMPLAINING THAT VGMA THIS VGMA THAT. BE REAL MY PEOPLE COS U R THE REASON WHY THIS PEOPLE DNT TAKE US SERIOUS. VGMA NO DO ANYTHING SO STOP COMPLAINING N PAINTING THEM BLACK.IF LIKE U GET THE AWARD U WERE NOMINATED FOR LIKE U WILL BE HERE PRAISING THEM.VGMA BIG UP TO U.U DO ALL.”
The recent music awards, held last weekend, ended with EL picking up five awards, including the flagship artiste of the year award.
