Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan on Monday presented his former side Liberty Professionals with a lump sum after they beat opponents New Edubiase in a league game.
Liberty beat Edubiase by 2-0 in the game at the club’s home grounds at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman, a game Gyan was present for.
After the game, he met the players of the team that propelled him to stardom, and handed them the $3,000 incentive.
Gyan began his career with the Dansoman based side, where his exploits as a teenager caught the eyes of scouts, leading to his career in Europe and eventual stardom for the Black Stars.
Liberty over the years has garnered a reputation for producing great players for the national teams, with players like Michael Essien, Kwadwo Asamoah, Sulley Muntari and several others having their formative years at the club.
Gyan is currently injured and thus unable to play for either club or country.
