A young Fulani beggar is making waves in media circles after she gave up her entire haul for the day and handed it to a lady who had told her that she had no money for herself.
Leila, 10, was carrying out her usual begging rounds around the Accra Mall last month when she ran into Lawrencia, a teacher, and tried to beg for money from her.
Lawrencia, to get out of the situation, said she had no money, and actually hadn’t eaten since morning.
That was when the little girl selflessly offered her what she had on her to buy food, even going so far as to go to where she was keeping what she had made for the day bringing it to Lawrencia so she should buy some food to eat. She gave her about Ghc 5 in total.
Awed, she confessed to the girl that she wasn’t really hungry, and gave her back and money and some in addition. They have since become strong friends.
