Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has come out strongly to deny reports that he is helping the NPP import weapons to enable them win the November elections and kick the NDC out of power.
A report on Montie Fm in Accra Wednesday by presenter Mugabe sought to paint the picture that the Shanghai SIPG forward was funding the opposition, and that he had helped import firearms and machetes for the party.
In a series of tweets through his official account on Wednesday, Gyan denied the reports. He called on the station to call their reporter to order and stop sullying the good name of a noble profession like journalism.
He wrote:

Say no to irresponsible journalism, the owners/managers of Muntie fm must call Mugabe to order.. I’m a footballer and not a politician..”

The Black Stars player seems offended at even the suggestion of supporting one party over the other. Apparently he prefers to be remembered only as a non partisan do-gooder.
