Ghana’s President-John Mahama is not only over ambitious, sometimes, his ambition sounds like deception—especially when it comes to the issue of electricity.
Since taking power, his government has been struggling to provide Ghanaians with power—a crisis which has led to many demonstrations and several companies to shut down.
Still, Ghanaians are under the rulership of “dumber”—but the president says, there’s imminent hope.
Speaking at the maiden congregation of the University of Energy and Natural Resources in Sunyani over the weekend, President John Mahama said his government has put in place measures to solve the current energy crisis and that soon, Ghana will become a major power exporter.
“A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to cut a sod for the commencement of an on-shore receiving facilities for Sankofa gas…. It is estimated at 1.5 trillion cubic feet. It is capable of supplying Ghana with 1000 megawatts of power for the next 20 years.
“Indeed my vision is to make Ghana a net exporter of Power when the West Africa Regional electricity market becomes operational sometime next year,” he stated.
In fact, Ghanaians do not care about exporting power to any country now—they just want a reliable supply, something President Mahama and his government have failed to deliver.
