British Prime Minister David Cameron Resigns In The Wake Of Humiliating EU Referendum Loss

UK Prime Minister David Cameron has announced his resignation from his post, mere hours after the kingdom voted to exit the European Union.
The referendum held on Thursday ended with Brexit, the campaign to leave, winning with 51.8% of the votes cast.
Having bet massively on, and campaigned assiduously towards, a remain outcome – the Premier’s position has become untenable, and he announced his decision with an emotional speech at No.10 Downing Street.
“The British people have voted to leave the EU and their will must be respected.” Cameron, flanked by his wife Samantha, said.
“The will of the British people is an instruction that must be delivered.
“I am very proud to have been Prime Minister of this country for six years. I have held nothing back.
“The British people have made a very clear decision. I think the country requires fresh leadership.”
The Cabinet would meet Monday to draw up the timetable for Cameron’s exit, although he noted in his speech that he hopes a new PM would be in place by the time of the Conservative conference in October.
