A Detroit mansion once owned by Motown Records founder Berry Gordy is back on the market.
The 10,500-square-foot home in the city’s Boston-Edison neighbourhood is listed for nearly $1.6 million, according to The Detroit News.
“Just based off of the response we’ve gotten from the market, I think it will be a successful sale,” real estate agent Deborah Smith told the newspaper.
Smith said celebrities and foreign and local business owners have shown interest in the estate.
T
he Italian Renaissance Revival home was listed last year for $1.3 million before it was taken off the market.
Attorney and owner Cynthia Reaves listed it in 2010 for about $1.4 million.
Smith has said the housing “market was a little depressed” then and “wasn’t ready” for the home.
Renovations have been made on the home over the past year, Smith said.
Gordy bought it 1967 and lived there a few years before moving to Los Angeles.
The home also has a 1,100-square-foot apartment with three bedrooms, a five-car carriage house, and athletic facilities. It sits on 2.2 acres and was built in 1917 by lumber baron Nels Michelson.
