Ghanaian footballer-Asamoah Gyan has filed a lawsuit against Accra-based Montie FM’s Mugabe and Founder of Ghana Freedom Party (GFP)-Akua Donkor over claims made by the two that he is funding the opposition party-NPP ahead of the upcoming general elections.
The Ghanaian international who currently plays in China for Shangahi SIPG was said to have “imported arms and machetes in support for the New Patriotic Party(NPP) campaign activities in the run-up to the general polls” reports Kasapa Fm.
Gyan tweeted to deny these claims and has since asked the two involved to retract those statements and follow it with an apology—but Mugabe and Akua Donkor have refused.
KasapaFm says the failure to retract and apologize has provoked the “lawsuit from the Black Stars player.”
“The Chief Executive of the Asamoah Gyan Foundation in Ghana, Samuel Anim Addo has revealed that their Lawyers have filed a writ in court over the claims set to tarnish the image of the footballer”
