The opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP) never ceases to amaze me. It certainly looks like the leading members have a great sense of humour.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has said the party will treat people who attempt to snatch ballot boxes during the November elections like “kyinkyinga” (roasted meat).
Speaking to party faithful at the campaign launch of the MP for Dome/Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, in Accra, Dr Prempeh said the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) had failed and so the party would attempt to rig the elections by snatching ballot boxes from the various polling stations.He said if it came to that, the NPP would be waiting to deal with such ballot snatchers.
“What is left for the NDC to do is to steal the mandate of the people but before they will arrive at the polling station, we will be there waiting for them. And anyone who dares come to the polling station to snatch the ballot box shall be treated like kyinkyinga,”he said.
Are such utterances prompted by election pressure or this party is just like the many others?
