ECG Cuts Power To Accra Sports Stadium Over Unpaid Debt

First Cape Coast and now Accra, is there any seriousness at all in those running this country?
Ghana’s national stadium, the Accra Sports Stadium, is the latest to fall prey to the Electricity Company of Ghana’s massive disconnection exercise as they attempt to accrue huge sums owed them.
The stadium was disconnected on Tuesday, The PRO of the National Sports Authority, Frederica Mensah-Davies said.
The stadium was found to be indebted to the power distributor to the tune of Ghc 240,000 last year, and are supposed to pay Ghc 24,000 every month as part of a negotiated repayment module. Davies said they were disconnected because despite making their monthly deposit, ECG wanted more.
“We are not the only ones who are owing, we have payed our sum for this month as part of the agreement but they (ECG) have asked us to pay a bit more for them to reconnect us.” She said.
“We are hopeful that we will be able to raise the sum required by close of day to restore the power,”
ECG are currently aggressively seeking the repayment of debts owed, leading to a mass disconnection exercise. The newly built Cape Coast Sports Stadium was disconnected for a similar debt just  a couple weeks ago.
