Two successive shootings of unarmed Black men in the past week has raised tensions in the US  to alarming levels again, and tragically the protests seemed to have been used as a means by unknown actors to carry out an equally tragic act.
Four police officers were shot in cold blood by snipers during protests in Dallas, Texas on Thursday. Seven others were wounded during the shooting that broke out during protests by activists over the recent shootings.
The motives of the attackers aren’t exactly clear at this point, although the use of snipers indicate a coordinated and planned hit. One suspect who had engaged the police in a shootout has been arrested, Reuters reports.
“Separately, police said they were questioning occupants of a Mercedes they had pulled over after the vehicle sped off down a downtown street with a man who threw a camouflaged bag inside the back of the car.” The US news agency added.
“Police said three other people in custody, two from inside the Mercedes and another woman detained near a downtown garage.”
Protests broke out in several cities across the states after the shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, two African Americans, by white police officers in largely controversial circumstances. Video of both encounters posted online inflamed passions, leading to the protests. It appears the guaranteed prescence of police at said protests have been used to carry out such an act.
