Nigerian actor Emeka Ike has reportedly made moves to halt the divorce proceedings his wife has initiated against him.
In a suit filed before a High Court in Lagos, Ike wants the court to stop the Lagos Island Customary Court, which is currently hearing the divorce case, to be barred from hearing the case.
Ike’s claim is that the lower court has no jurisdiction to hear the case, and wants its proceedings to be immediately ceased in respect to their case.
The actor’s wife and mother of his kids is seeking a divorce, claiming that the actor physically assaulted her during their marriage.
She filed for divorce last year, and the Customary Court has been hearing the case throughout.
But when it arrived time for its judgement Tuesday, Emeka’s lawyers served notice that they had a case at the High Court to halt the proceedings of the lower court.
