IN THE NAME OF RELIGION: Nine Year Old Boy Kept Chained For Weeks By Church In Nigeria – Finally Rescued By Police

The crazy antics of the religious, committing cruel and inhumane acts in the name of their God, is a clear and present danger in every human society, but to which we turn a wilful blind eye because common sense is thrown out the window whenever God enters the picture.
This cruelty takes many forms, whether it is ISIS killing and maiming and raping in the name of Allah, or faith healing Christians leaving their children to die from the simplest ailments because they refuse medical help (or blood transfusions in the case of Jehovah’s Witnesses), or children or old people being mistreated for allegedly being witches or being possessed.
It led to the death of an infant once in the most disgusting way possible, and has now led to the maltreatment of another child for weeks whilst so-called ‘sane’ people looked on.
Religion is the common thread in all these, its trademark suspending all faculties to believe in supernatural nonsense is exactly what leads to such extreme ends.
A nine year old boy in Nigeria has been rescued by Police after being held for weeks in a church whilst being chained to a wall.
The National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) rescued the boy from the clutches of the Celestial Church of Christ (Key of Joy Parish, Ajiwo) in Nigeria’s Ogun State.
The young boy had been kept by the church for weeks, presumably to free him from some kind of demon. His condition at the time of his rescue was nothing to write home about.
The NSCDC released a statement on their operation…
“On the 22nd of July 2016,at about 10:30hrs at Ajibawo in Ado Odo OTA Division 2, NSCDC officers rescue a boy, named Taiwo Korede, aged nine years old, who had been chained for weeks at Celestial Church of Christ key of Joy Parish Ajiwo.
“The case has since been transfer to the appropriate authority for further investigation.”
Here’s to hoping whichever monsters were behind this gets what’s coming to them, which is prosecution and some time in jail. Too many times people get to be terrible people and hide behind the name of religion to get away, that must not happen in this instance!
Christopher Hitchens once said ‘religion poisons everything’. I feel on days like this even his fiercest critics must admit he was onto something there.
