There we go again! Everything in Africa has to come down to the spiritual. When would we ever understand that whenever we put a problem down to the ‘spiritual’, then no measures would be taken in this ‘real’ world to solve it.
If you think about it, anything can be ascribed to spiritual means, since that world has no rules and follows no logic. So in essence, maybe we should stop trying to solve our problems and spend all our time with pastors and juju men to give us all the secrets of life.
We woke up Tuesday to the sickening news that one Lance Corporal Wilfried Amuzu had killed his two children, mother-in-law, and then killed himself. His wife, Rapha Idddrisu, has been speaking to reporters on the issue today.
According to her, she suspects spiritual forces were behind her husband’s actions. She told reporters she believes her husband in his right mind would never commit such an atrocity, making her feel that something must have pushed him to do what he did.
According to her, she has been noticing changes in him, sometimes muttering things that made no sense. She also had domestic problems with him, which was why she was trying to move out of his place with her kids. He had accused her of being a witch and hindering his progress, and had even threatened to kill her.
According to her, she went out to search for new accommodation Monday when she returned to be met with the tragic news.
This sums up the portrait of a man under immense pressure and who possibly had mental issues, instead spiritual is the way we want to go. If we pay more attention to mental health in this country, we wouldn’t have some of the problems we have.
