Mzbel is sort of a maverick in the Ghanaian celebrity world, in that she retains a lot of religious ‘street cred’ despite holding some views very contrary to the mainstream.
In Ghana all that anyone has to do to garner applause from followers is to post something with a vague reference to God or scripture, and everyone would be praising them to the heavens. Actions doesn’t matter as much as lip service.
Mzbel occasionally makes such posts, so some of these views about Jesus Christ (who she doesn’t believe in) and abortion (which she believes isn’t morally wrong) goes under the radar.
According to the singer, back when she was pregnant with Adepa, she seriously considered abortion since the pregnancy wasn’t planned. And whilst she didn’t believe it was wrong, she said friends talked her out of it by convincing her of the dangers of the procedure.
“My religion is not against abortion because we believe that once the baby does not have a soul, you can get rid of it.” she said, in regards to the morality of it.
“I did not do go ahead because friends called to tell me I will die if I do it and stuff like that but the truth is, I am happy I listened to their advise, I don’t regret it,” she added.
Mzbel is a worshiper of God, even if she says she does not believe in Jesus, so when she says ‘my religion’ is not against it, what does she mean? Is Christianity for or against abortion, in scripture – or is that just one of those things Christians have accepted defacto as a sin despite no scriptural evidence that it is. Maybe Mzbel is right and most Christians are wrong.
Anybody care to prove her wrong?
