Donald Trump is like the plague. After completing his hostile takeover of the Republican Party, most of its officials were reticent to stand up with a man who says the most reprehensible things unconcerned. Eventually, most came around, but many more did not.
This led to a convention were getting influential speakers or artists to appear became a chore. Former Presidents George H.W and son George W. Bush, as well as 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney all refused to attend. It seems they had even less luck getting any artist willing to take the stage for Trump.
A new TMZ report claims that even though he got offered a cool $5m payday to play the RNC, Canadian pop star Justin Bieber declined.
According to the report, he was promised that he just had to perform and didn’t have to make any political endorsement. But whilst the singer himself didn’t mind, his manager Scooter Braun, a staunch Hillary Clinton supporter, absolutely was set against the idea.
The talent agency who brought Bieber the offer and Lebron James, in whose city of Cleveland the GOP convention was being held, also seriously advised him against the offer. The unanimous feeling was that despite what they were being told, their mere presence there would represent a form of endorsement of Donald J. Trump.
Eventually the singer turned down the payday, which would have been the biggest of his career.
