Taiwanese-American Actress-Constance Wu is tearing into the studios and financiers of the ‘Great Wall’ film, in which American actor-Matt Damon plays a heroic dragon-slayer defending the Great Wall in ancient China.
With so many Chinese action actors like Jet-Li and others around, you would think the film-makers would have fallen on any of them—and this is what upsets Constance Wu, leading her to launch a social media rant against the film.
In her outburst, Wu doesn’t mince words—boldly saying among other things that, “Our heroes don’t look like Matt Damon. They look like Malala. Ghandi. Mandela. Your big sister when she stood up for you to those bullies that one time.”
And she also states in an accompanying tweet that: “Can we all at least agree that hero-bias & “but it’s really hard to finance” are no longer excuses for racism? TRY.
