Former President Kuffour Says Ghana Is Losing Its Way And Lacks Real Leadership

President Kuffouri
Former President John Agyekum Kuffour, the ‘gentle giant’ – has taken some subtle jabs at the current leadership Ghana is enjoying, in the form of John Dramani Mahama.
President Kuffour, whose NPP government was replaced by John Mills and subsequently John Mahama’s governments – said Ghana has lost its way, plunging into economic chaos due to a lack of leadership.
He as speaking during this year’s Prempeh Colleges’ Pearson Osae Lectures.
“Our country is in crisis now. We seem to be losing our way. We started off with so much promise but within a short time, we started faltering economically.” JAK said.

“When we talk leadership, we need leadership that understands the world. We don’t want saints to be our leaders, everything should be on balance,” he added.

“We are also governed by a constitution. We must try to keep within the constitution as much as possible. If we should deviate, we shouldn’t be sentimental at all, we should try to enforce the law, nobody is above the law”. he added, in yet another sly dig.
President Kuffour led the country for eight years between 2001 and 2009, and declared Ghana HIPC not long after ascending to office. The initiative helped pay off debts and set Ghana on the path to the economic prosperity Kuffour talks about, and which he believes the NDC has quashed.
