Bibi Bright made her comeback to the limelight on the back of some semi nude pics and aggravating comments against persons with disability – but somehow she sleeps pretty well at night.
During an interview with Delay, Bibi, perhaps still in her attention seeking phase, said God doesn’t create disabled people, but it is always exclusively the works of their parents.
That ignores the simply obvious matter of people who were not born with disabilities.
So Nina Efedi Okoroafor, a visually impaired student of the University of Ghana, wrote a measured reply to Bibi to educate her on the issues, but she still couldn’t see past her own ego and thirst for attention, and turned her fire on the student.
Nina, a level 400 student of the school, has spoken out on why she felt the need to write to Bibi.
“I thought that I needed to educate [her]…we need education because its a misconception out there that persons with disability where all born with their disability” Nina said.
She said most person view persons with disabiltity as not useful or productive members of society, and she sought to correct that misconception, which Bibi was feeding into.
“If someone was not born with a disability and gets it later in life, would you say that person now got it from the parents?” she queried.
Bibi kept contradicting herself, Nina added, saying in one breath she was specially created by God and in another that we aren’t created, just born.
“We all have our religious views, but where your rights and your freedoms end, is where mine begins”
According to her, things like disabilities can happen to anyone of us at anytime, thus it is important to be sensitive to such issues.
