Well, how embarrassing. Commentators for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation commentating on the Olympics had an epic fail live on air during one of Michael Phelps numerous Olympic gold medal wins.
History’s greatest Olympian was storming to another comfortable victory in Rio, for his 22nd (22nd!) Olympic gold medal, but the CBC commentators were noticeably not impressed.
Having gotten their lanes mixed, they thought Phelps was his teammate Ryan Lochte, and Lochte was Ryan. So all the time Phelps was storming to victory, they kept screaming that Lochte was finally beating Phelps.
Until the graphics were put up that Phelps actually won. Oops.
This is bad, sure – but is it Gtv declaring Thabo Mbeki dead bad? Certainly not – but at least we know national broadcasting companies are keeping up the good work.
