NDC Says Nii Lante Vanderpuye's Comments On Nana Addo's Height Were Metaphorical

The ruling National Democratic Congress are scrambling to spin the scandalous comments passed by Nii Lante Vanderpuye, coming out to somewhat lamely say that his comments were metaphorical.
Vanderpuye, speaking during the party’s campaign launch in the Central region, said that the opposition leader cannot be President because “The presidency is not for short people.”
It was a dumb comment to make, and one which has generated intense public condemnation for the party. To that effect, the spin to minimise their offensiveness has begun, and it isn’t going well at all.
Speaking on Joy Fm Monday, campaign spokesperson Joyce Bawah Mogtari said Nii Lante used the comments as a ‘figure of speech within a political context’ – which does not really mean anything.
“Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye used a figure of speech within a political context.” Mogtari said on the Super Morning Show.
“I will leave it strictly in that context and I will not want to dwell on it.” she added, when asked to elaborate on what the ‘figure of speech’ meant.
“If you were reproducing the whole of the statement, you will not pick just that out of the context, you would have used it in the context in which he used it absolutely.”
This sounds a lot like the excuses the Trump campaign are forced to roll out everytime he goes out and says something stupid.
