In the name God and religion, humanity continues to suffer in the hands of man made atrocities–with Islamists leading the massacre race around the world.
According to reports,”At least 64 people have been killed in Democratic Republic of Congo – hacked to death in attacks carried out by suspected rebels.”
The machete attacks happened in the town of Beni in North Kivu on Saturday night and the government has described it as a massacre in revenge for military operations in the area.
Though the government says about 60 people have been savagely killed, locals believe the increasing death toll could eventually reach 75.
Since 2014 and just around the unstable town of Beni, about 600 people have been killed, with this being the latest.
Three days of national mourning have been declared.
Army spokesman Mak Hazukay has said the killing was carried out by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a partly Islamist armed group of Ugandan origin.
A government spokesman Lambert Mende said the government has previously sought to ‘alert the world to the jihadist threat’ in DR Congo, adding: ‘In our country, the armed forces of the DRC are alone in the face of the indifference of the international community’.
The killings have led to locals taking to the streets, burning tyres and others in protest–shouting, “our government is incapable of keeping us safe.”
